This election was against church law. And, there is no provision in the BOD that allows for de facto acceptance of any practice in conflict with church law. It is inconceivable that the Judicial Council could find any of this legal. How can any Bishop hold anyone in his/her conference accountable for violation of church law when said Bishop was illegally elected and is in violation of church law on an ongoing basis, or exercise any ethical or authoritative leadership of said conference? This conference will be in crisis beginning on September 1, 2016. Of the 300+ churches in this conference, it is hoped that those who are unable to consciously work for this Bishop will be able find help through this newly formed WCA after October 7, 2016.

  4. As a lifelong Methodist , I am totally opposed to this breaking of the BOD. My fear is that this entire issue is going to cause the split of the Methodist church . We need to read God’s take on this and ask His guiding hand in the final decision.

  5. WhAt is so terrible about a split? These people have chosen a path that conflicts with God’s law. If that is what they want to do we should do everything in our power to assist them to find a denomination that agrees with their beliefs. As Methodists, true to God’s Word, there is no compromise. They must go and be with others of their same beliefs. We are not going to break God’s Word because of pressure or to be popular. If they choose to repent of their sins we welcome them back with open arms. Otherwise they have chosen a path that leads them out of our denomination.
