Has GBCS been faithful to the provisions of
trust document?
Shortly after the Good News Board of Directors announced the selection of the Rev. Rob Renfroe to replace Dr. James V. Heidinger II upon his retirement, letters were sent out to the religious press and friends of this ministry. What follows are a few of the letters sent to congratulate Jim Heidinger upon his retirement.
Dear Jim,
We will greatly miss you, Jim. You have been a powerful
leader of the great Good News movement in a time when our church has greatly
needed your leadership. Thank you much more than you will ever know.
We have looked forward to every Good News and have been happy to be the cover story for two or three.
Having never led a church which did not grow and win the lost, it is hard for us to see that with so many lost souls, the Methodists are not growing. We have the theology and we have the message and we have a lost world that needs Jesus. We will keep praying for revival.
We will pray for you as you leave Good News and continue to serve God, and we will support Good News’ new leadership and pray that God will richly bless.
Jim and Rose Sims.

Dear Jim,
Vera and I want to thank you for the ministry you have
provided to the United Methodist Church these 28 years. They have not been easy
years and you have carried the burden for our church in your heart. Without you
and Good News, the United Methodist Church would be farther down the wrong path
than it already is. You have faced the onslaught of liberalism with faith,
courage, and patience.
We pray our Lord will be with you to bless and guide you in the days and years ahead.

Dear Jim,
I want to personally thank you for answering God’s call
to Good News 28 years ago. Your excellent leadership has made an impact upon
our United Methodist Church. A call to renewal is not an easy one, but you have
exemplified such gentlemanly qualities in the face of opposition. You are a man
of integrity who never waivered. I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Well
done, good and faithful servant of the Most High.

Dear Jim,
Your encouragement and leadership in working for renewal
of the United Methodist Church has been an inspiration to us. Your
dedication has given us courage to continue being faithful even when we have a
sense that our denomination has caved in to the culture and is in an
unstoppable decline.
Our prayer is that we will receive pastors at the local level who stand for Scripture and holy living. We pray that they will proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ, asking God to turn our hearts and minds wholeheartedly to him.
Thank you for your 28 years at Good News. We know you will continue to be dedicated to renewal and for that we give thanks.

Dear Jim,
I pray that all will go well during this transition and
Good News can keep on keeping on. I’m 85 years old and I trust God I will live
to see our great Church back as it should be—Scriptural holiness of heart and
turning away from liberalism and following the precious word of God.
May your transition be a joyful one.

Dear Jim,
Our thank you seems so small compared to all you’ve done
for the Kingdom of God, but it comes from our heart. We look forward to each
issue of Good News. Your editorials, and the other fine feature articles,
columns and insightful writings from various departments have enriched our
lives. Quite frankly, it would be very difficult (for us) to survive without a
“measure of Good News.”
We commit to pray for the Rev. Robert Renfroe and the Rev. Walter Fenton as they assume leadership roles for Good News.
With great appreciation for your 28 years of faithful service to Christ and the United Methodist Church.
