General Conference Website
The 2008 United Methodist General Conference in Ft. Worth, Texas, provides our denomination with an opportunity to take another major step forward toward reform, renewal, and revitalization! The Renewal and Reform Coalition desires to build on the momentum of the significant gains made at Pittsburgh in 2004 and Cleveland in 2000 and we plan on working to see the progress extended into the next quadrennium.
During General Conference 2008 we will certainly update Good News' website, but this website will be a "one stop shopping" center for all of the General Conference news and information that the Renewal and Reform Coalition is posting during General Conference 2008. Check it out today.

RENEW MINISTRIES – For United Methodists who are thinking anew
about what it means to live “The United Methodist Way,” an important new book
will be a helpful resource for clergy and laity alike to rediscover the heart
of the Wesleyan message—the message that had such a transforming impact on
England and the world.
Reclaiming the Wesleyan Social Witness: Offering Christ, by Mrs. L. Faye Short, president of Good News’ RENEW Network for women and Mrs. Katy Kiser, laywoman from Carrollton, Texas, and member of the RENEW Steering Committee, has just been released by Providence House Publishers, in Franklin, Tennessee.
If John Wesley could speak to us today about our witness and service in the world, what might he say? This newly-released book explores this and related questions in depth. Where did the Methodist witness begin? When and why did it flourish? Why is it experiencing a decline? What can we do to reclaim our unique and powerful gospel and social witness in the twenty-first century? Responding to these questions, the book offers United Methodists a valuable tool in the reclaiming of their Wesleyan heritage. Read the full news release
Good News is pleased to announce the sixth printing of
Beyond the Badge: a Spiritual Survival Guide for Cops and Their Families
by Charles Ferrara.

"The demands made upon an officer of the law are enormous. As a former cop and police chaplain, Chuck Ferrara understands that. He knows that to be successful, officers need something beyond the badge."
—James Heidinger
We believe that police officers everywhere will benefit from reading this book. Our hope is that churches all across America will provide this book for them. Please order a copy for review, and share this vision with your pastor or missions committee in your local church. Most small towns have no more than five or six police officers. A local church could provide real ministry to their entire police department for a very small investment. We have made special pricing available to those who will help us fulfill this vision.
