The United Methodist Church’s Council of Bishops has released a letter saying its members will enforce the Book of Disciplineagainst clergy who officiate at same-sex unions.
The letter acknowledges “deep disagreements and divisions” within the denomination over the practice of homosexuality, but says bishops are required to enforce church law as recorded in theDiscipline.
